Welcome

The rows of terraced houses in Rodbourne (Even Swindon) were built to provide homes for the men employed in the engineering works of the Great Western Railway, and their families.

In 2006 local residents celebrated the link between their community and Isambard Kingdom Brunel as part of the Swindon Brunel 200 Festival.

April 2006, assisted by staff at English Heritage’s National Monuments Record, members of the Rodbourne Community History Group began to plan and research a 'Discovery Trail' which was launched on Sunday 16 July 2006 at a family event. Over 150 people of all ages took to the streets of Rodbourne to discover this fascinating area as part of an interactive walking tour.

You can now follow the trail on-line which features key buildings linked to the memories of local residents.

Brunel 200 is an initiative of Bristol Cultural Development Partnership - Arts Council England South West, Bristol City Council and Business West. www.brunel200.com
